Columbus 1821 Bicentennial Trail, Columbus, Indiana

Submission by Hitchcock Design Group
by Staff

Hitchcock Design Group was engaged by the City of Columbus to create a connection between the Columbus People Trail and the Columbus Riverwalk through the construction of a 12' wide multi-use trail. The elements of the trail were designed celebrate the past 200 years of the Columbus area by honoring the past, finding common ground in the present, and imagining possibilities for the future. To do this, the design included seating, lighting, artistic, historical, and interpretive elements. This project is the bicentennial project and thus bears historical significance. Stakeholders input in the schematic design phase came from the Historical Society, City Staff, and the county library.
