By July, New York?EUR??,,????'???s Central Park will have eight wireless hotspots where visitors to the park can connect their laptops and PDAs to the Internet.
Central Park isn?EUR??,,????'???t the first public space in the city to get connected. Bryant Park and Tompkins Square Park were among the first to offer free wireless connections and according to the city Parks Department, all city parks will have the technology by the end of the summer.
?EUR??,,????'??This is an emerging technology for the Parks Department,?EUR??,,????'?? said spokesperson Warner Johnston. ?EUR??,,????'??Now that we have become more expert on the technology and the challenges of wiring our parks, we will be able to move quicker on this in the future,?EUR??,,????'?? Johnston said.
Corporate sponsors pay for the access; a trend that they hope will eventually spread outside of major cities across the country.
