The Destinations Issue of Landscape Architect & Specifier News saw many firms submit their projects for feature consideration. This project was not chosen for a Feature in the issue, but we at LandscapeArchitect.com thought the project deserved to be showcased online . . .
Bowie House is a two Michelin Key, five-star hotel designed as an extension of the client's home with grand, residential warmth in the Cultural District of Fort Worth. The luxury hotel includes 106 "bedrooms," multiple restaurants, a spa, a fitness room, a library, and a billet room; all of which emanate a 'deep west' experience. The landscape architecture team designed an elegant, elevated pool terrace, a warm and inviting central courtyard that serves as an extension of the signature bar and restaurant, and a grand arrival court and streetscape that embraces the historic neighborhood. The exterior open spaces are all located above a valet-served parking structure, which will help reduce potential urban heat island effects. The hotel's elegant style and esteemed art collection draw inspiration from the many museums within walking distance of the site, including the Kimball, National Cowgirl, Amon Carter, and the Modern Museum of Art. The Landscape Architects worked closely with the owner, hotel operations, and design team to study the overall vision and thoughtfully apply it to each smaller room. The authentic Texan-inspired materials and plant palette celebrate a modern take on Cowtown's western culture and neighboring facilities like Dickies Arena, Will Rogers Coliseum, and the world-famous Stockyards. Bowie House is truly the city's most extraordinary luxury hotel.
