ALCC member companies donated materials and talents for a Day of Service at Falcon High School in the Colorado Springs area. This learning lab will provide open-air classrooms for a new landscape curriculum the school is implementing fall of 2017 in partnership with the Landscape Career Pathways Program.

In the Denver area, the Day of Service project found members working alongside students at Green Mountain High School, Lakewood. The project built upon work begun last year to create more outdoor learning areas where students can practice landscape skills. In cooperation with Emily Griffith Technical College in Denver, ALCC presented the first-ever Irrigation Boot Camp, which offered training supported by industry scholarships. to people seeking careers as irrigation technicians. In addition to the boot camp, a job fair was held.

In March, The ELITE Awards recognized some of the best Colorado landscape companies and their accomplishments. An awards dinner at University of Colorado South Campus celebrated ELITE finalists and award recipients for outstanding projects as well as demonstrated business skills and commitment to sustainability. ALCC also recognized five Volunteer Service Award winners for their work in support of the Colorado landscape industry.

Kristen Fefes, former Executive Director of ALCC who received a Bob Cannon Lifetime Achievement Award, is pictured with Matt Hiner, ALCC board member who won the Outlook Award for Emerging Leaders.

Michael Womochils, pictured here with his wife Julie, was presented the ALCC Person of the Year award.

ALCC also presented three scholarships. The winners were (from left): Kelsie Cady (Colorado State University), Sergio Rojas-Robles (Front Range Community College), and Cindy Burge (Front Range Community College).
