Profile: We operate entirely on the energy and generosity of volunteers as we attempt to make the chapter vital and expand the discussion among the membership. Our purpose is the advancement of knowledge, education, and skill in the art and science of landscape architecture as an instrument of service in public welfare. VA ASLA promotes the profession of landscape architecture and advances the practice through advocacy, education, communication, and fellowship.

Each year, the chapter recognizes one student from each of the state's two accredited landscape architectural programs-University of Virginia and Virginia Polytechnic University- based on the recommendations of the faculty. For World Landscape Architecture Month in April, the chapter participated in ASLA's WLAM social media campaign on our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter feeds; highlighting award winning projects, Virginia firms, and student work. The 2019 Virginia ASLA Annual Conference on Landscape Architecture: Watershed Preservation Planning took place on September 20 and 21 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. Other events included participation in the Public Awareness Summit, a presentation at Richmond's Ancarrow's Landing by Burt Pinnock of Baskervill on the site's history and upcoming plans to improve it as part of the Richmond Slave Trail, and a renovation tour of Richmond's Farmer's Market.

As seen in LASN magazine, December 2019.
