The American Society of Landscape Architects issued the following statement on the introduction of the Green New Deal for Public Housing Act:

 

The American Society of Landscape Architects is pleased that the first legislation to address the core principles of the Green New Deal represents an important recognition that the built environment plays a significant role both in contributing to the climate crisis and, with purposeful action, to its mitigation. The Green New Deal for Public Housing Act also reflects the tragic reality that the effects of climate change are often borne disproportionately by disadvantaged communities and that climate solutions must be rooted in a commitment to equity. ASLA welcomes this first step in what must become an urgent, broad-based legislative approach that spans the built and natural environments and fosters mitigation, resilience, and sustainability in every community.
