The American Society of Landscape Architect San Diego Chapter (ASLA-SD) recently announced its selection of Philip Armstrong as the 2019 chapter president. Armstrong replaced past president, Michael Brennan. Local to Carlsbad, Calif., Armstrong received his bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from University of California, Davis and currently works as a senior landscape architect at The Lightfoot Planning Group located in Carlsbad, where he oversees staff resources and a variety of project markets in both private and public sectors.Armstrong is entering the presidency of the chapter during a busy year, as the chapter will host the 2019 ASLA Annual Meeting and Expo in November. The chapter estimates that around 7,000 landscape architects are expected to attend the event. According to a press release from ASLA-SD, "Armstrong's personal mission is to support and increase chapter membership which funds programs, lectures and events, community outreach and awareness of the profession of landscape architecture."
