Toolkit Now Available
The American Society of Landscape Architects wants to help educators at all levels bring the outdoors into their classrooms. The Back to School Toolkit helps instructors develop lesson plans, provide some creative and innovative ideas, and give students of all ages the research tools to fully appreciate landscape architecture while having some fun along the way. The association says the toolkit is full of lesson ideas, activities, and more that can help teachers bring the outdoors into their classrooms. Highlights from the Back to School Toolkit include: • Create a Raingarden or Bioswale: teaches students about the importance of landscape architecture. • Landscape Architects Got Game: informs students on how landscape architects design the courts used by their favorite players and the courts they play on with their friends. • Landscape Sharkitecture: teaches students how landscape architecture plays a major role in designing some of the biggest aquariums around. • The Roof is Growing: instructs students on how they can make their own green roofs. Additional ASLA resources for teachers, member volunteers and students are available on the Tool for Teachers website: https://www.asla.org/toolsforteachers.aspx.
