The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has shared information on this year's submission deadlines for LEED certification. The deadlines apply to applications for LEED for Building Design and Construction (BD+C), LEED for Interior Design and Construction (ID+C), LEED for Operations and Maintenance (O+M), LEED for Neighborhood Development (ND), LEED for Cities and Communities, and LEED Zero certification, excluding LEED Volume.

According to USGBC, LEED is available for virtually all building types and is the most widely used green building rating system in the world with certification a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement and leadership. Certified projects are said to be cost effective and have health and environmental benefits such as improved air quality, water conservation and reduced pollution, waste and carbon emissions.

 

Submission deadlines for LEED applications include milestones such as certification before the November 10 virtual Greenbuild International Conference and Expo and certification before the end of the year. USGBC states, regardless of when a deadline occurs, all project teams hoping to achieve review milestones by a certain date should inform GBCI of their specific needs as early as possible. Reviewers will make every effort to accommodate reasonable requests, as capacity allows, and several programs offer an expedited review timeline.

GBCI is the global certification body for the LEED green building program, performing reviews and verification to determine if projects have met standards set forth by the LEED rating system.
