In terms of climate change, APA explained that planners have the solutions for communities to achieve their emissions goals. With equity, the association describes planners' ability to "change past wrongs and help communities become more equitable." Foresight was described as a topic that helps planners navigate change in an uncertain future by identifying trends to prepare for change.

Their reflection on infrastructure is focused on recent federal investment from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. "Planners will be essential to helping communities access and implement these funds in local and regional planning efforts that advance community recovery, expand transportation and broadband access, and increase resiliency." With technology APA pointed to the impact of new data and the changes in public engagement on the planning process. They explained that technology can positive effect challenges planners face in modern communities. The final topic, zoning reform, emphasizes providing residents with more housing options at lower costs.
