AMI Hosts Project Management Class for Fall 2001
SAN FRANCISCO The Advanced Management Institute for Architecture and Engineering (AMI) will be offering their popular Project Management training program this fall. The course addresses the full range of skills needed by Project Managers and how they fit together by following the stages of a projects life, from obtaining the contract through construction administration.
AMI Business Manager Karen L. Newcombe recommends the course to Landscape Architects. "I would recommend the program to Landscape Architects because it is really focused on building projects and environmental projects," said Newcombe. "Landscape Architects face a lot of the same challenges that building architects have -- keeping things on track, on budget, keeping scope of work manageable, tracking change orders, things like that."
Along with the hard skills needed to manage the financial and scheduling aspects of a projects, AMI teaches the soft skills that are important to success, such as communication skills, teambuilding and motivating others. AMIs Project Management course is highly interactive, using hands-on participation, case studies, and group exercises to make retaining new skills easier.
The six-session course begins in October and runs through March, with one two-day class session each month:
o October 5 & 6
o November 9 & 10
o January 4 & 5
o February 1 & 2
o March 1 & 2
o March 29 & 30
