Executive Director, John Horsley of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) has been honored by the Council of University Transportation Centers (CUTC), for his work and contributions to transportation education and research.

During the CUTC's 16th Annual Awards Banquet in Washington, D.C., Horsley received the Lifetime Achievement award in Transportation Research & Education. The award recognizes outstanding transportation leaders, students, and faculty for accomplishments in the field, especially pertaining to research and education.

''I deeply appreciate receiving this award,'' Horsley said. ''When I met with the University Transportation Centers each year I got to see the young professors and graduate students who are the future leaders of transportation. The UTCs are doing a great job.''

Horsley has just retired from his executive director position at AASHTO, and has been replaced by Frederick ''Bud'' Wright.
