Innovative Aeration Improves Park Water and Ecosystems
COTTONWOOD, CA
Costa Mesa Country Club, located in Orange County, CA, now boasts unprecedented, crystal-clear lakes-- due to new, innovative technology developed by Alderman Engineering. This turnaround led the County of Orange to select Alderman Engineering to design new aeration systems to renovate their lakes in Clark, Irvine, Mason and Yorba regional parks.
The new Mason Park design includes an ozonation system, as more water treatment is requred to treat effluent (reclaimed) water. These Orange County lakes had previously not maintained adequate dissolved oxygen levels, did not support healthy ecosystems, and the water quality had deteriorated significantly.
The new aeration and ozone systems are efficient, durable and low-energy consumptive. They aid the natural ecological systems of the lakes (i.e. fish, aquatic plants, etc.) to maintain excellent water quality and clarity, without toxic chemicals and with less maintenance.
Cool air flows throughout the lake bottoms-- adding oxygen, oxidizing organic matter and nutrients, and thoroughly mixing the lake water column. Uniform aerobic conditions permit aquatic life to thrive throughout the lake-eliminating "fish kills.
