These funds will support existing efforts occurring within the 21 designated priority landscapes as well as a new Collaborative Wildfire Risk Reduction Program that will focus on high-risk wildfire areas outside those landscapes, namely in the Wildland-Urban Interface where national forests and grasslands converge with populated areas. Projects approved under this new program will utilize existing hazardous fuels treatment methods and other strategies that have already begun to reduce wildfire risk for over 500 communities since the beginning of the Wildfire Crisis Strategy's inception in 2022. National forests and their local communities in qualifying areas will be able to use these funds to reduce wildfire risk and improve forest health, ultimately protecting communities, infrastructure, water quality, and adjacent landowners.
