Paul Sangha, PLA, ASLA, is a visionary leader whose four-decade career has advanced landscape architecture through innovation, environmental stewardship, and design excellence. As Founder and Principal of Paul Sangha Creative, he has led the design of more than 900 projects worldwide, demonstrating how landscape can shape development, restore ecosystems, and enrich everyday life. Sangha is widely recognized for pioneering landscape-led planning, positioning landscape architecture as the driving force behind site design. His work consistently preserves natural landforms, protects mature trees, and creates more resilient, sustainable environments. Nowhere is his impact more evident than in shoreline resilience. His groundbreaking project Metamorphous replaced a failing seawall with a sculptural, nature-based solution that reduces wave energy, restores habitat, and has generated new beach through sediment accretion. This work has become a model for Vancouver's "Green Shores" initiatives and influenced coastal design practices more broadly. His leadership extends to transformative public projects such as the Tatlow and Volunteer Parks Creek Restoration, Vancouver's first daylighted urban creek. Delivered through a pioneering public-private partnership, the project improves water quality, reduces flooding, restores habitat, and creates a vibrant public space, demonstrating the power of landscape architecture to solve complex urban challenges. Across private estates, civic landscapes, and institutional work, Sangha's designs seamlessly integrate art, ecology, and craft. His collaborations with leading architects and artists further elevate the cultural impact of his work. Beyond practice, Sangha is a dedicated mentor and educator, supporting future leaders through scholarships, teaching, and public programming. As the first Indo-Canadian registered landscape architect in British Columbia, he has also expanded the profession's reach and inclusivity. Through creativity, leadership, and lasting environmental impact, Paul Sangha has redefined what landscape architecture can achieve.
