Musick Detention Center; Irvine, CA
LCI participated in all project phases - site analysis, master planning, conceptual design, and construction documentation and administration - for the expansion in the existing 100-acre detention facility located in Orange County adjacent to the cities of Irvine and Lake Forest. The scope of work included initial master planning to increase inmate population accommodations from the approximately 1,100-bed facility to the proposed 7,500 beds. The project included additional facilities like housing units, kitchen facilities, support services, inmate programs/services, maintenance, laundry, commissary, warehouse facilities, and future police substation. Crenshaw LAX Transit Corridor; Inglewood & Los Angeles, CA
The Crenshaw/LAX Line is a mass-transit light rail line project that travels 8.5 miles to the Metro Green Line and serves the cities of Los Angles, Inglewood, and El Segundo as well as portions of unincorporated L.A. County. Opened in 2022, the north-south line connects the Crenshaw District to the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The tax-funded project was planned by the L.A. County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and LCI provided landscape architectural design for five of the designated transit stations as well as landscape design for the streetscape and five Traction Power Substation (TPSS) facilities from Aviation Boulevard to Vernon Avenue - comprising 7.1 miles of the 8.5-mile corridor. ATMP at LAX Airport; Los Angeles, CA
The Airfield & Terminal Modernization Project (ATMP) Roadway Improvements Project is part of a program at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to reduce airport-related congestion and traffic back-ups on surrounding public streets. The project includes replacing and reconfiguring 4.4 miles of roadways to reduce congestion and create dedicated airport roadways for traffic queues headed to the Central Terminal Area. The landscape aesthetic will contribute to the overall vision, reflecting a modern technical approach while preserving Southern California's sun-washed regional character. Key objectives create a unified visual identity along roadway corridors, enhanced visitor experience and safety, defined edges between pedestrian and vehicular realms, and provided wayfinding with defined plant palettes. University Drive; Irvine, CA
The project proposed to widen University Drive from two to three through lanes in the eastbound direction from 650 feet east of Ridgeline Drive/University Drive intersection to the southbound I-405 on-ramp. LCI completed the upgraded landscape and irrigation components for this 0.6-mile corridor. Located along University Drive, the project included on-street bike lanes and off-street pedestrian and bike trails, restriping, street utility, and drainage improvements, as well as parkway development incorporating improvements to increase safety, mobility, and other traffic upgrades. Existing significant trees were maintained in the parkway and supplemented with Coast Live Oak, California Sycamore, and Arroyo Wiilow species, all native drought-tolerant and low maintenance. I-405 Freeway Widening; Orange County, CA

The widening of the I-405 freeway between the SR-73 and I-605 will improve 16 miles of roadway and adjacent landscaping. The project includes adding one regular lane in each direction and making improvements to freeway entrances, exits, and bridges. Two new express lanes in each direction will also be constructed incorporating existing carpool lanes and connectors. LCI delivered conceptual through final design for landscape and irrigation for the entire project, coordinating landscape planting and irrigation designs with Caltrans and five adjacent cities. Field support for the project arborist was provided to identify and map existing trees and collaborate on the proposed and existing tree mitigation to meet environmental requirements. Adventure Park; Alhambra, CA
As the Landscape Architect for this project, LCI worked closely with the Los Angeles Department of Public Works and engineering consultant Watearth to develop landscape and irrigation plans for the Adventure Park Stormwater Capture Project. The purpose is to divert urban and stormwater runoff from nearby unincorporated communities into an underground storage and water treatment system for irrigation reuse. The intention is to improve the quality of California rivers and oceans, increase local water supply, provide community enhancements, and create educational opportunities. The site improvements consist of resurface parking, open seating areas, and decomposed granite paving. Roosevelt Elementary School; Anaheim, CA
LCI was responsible for all aspects of site design, from concept development through construction services, for this replacement STEAM school that was originally built in 1957. It was redesigned to include a parking lot, enhanced hardscape, playground, hard courts for sports play, and site amenities. A rain garden and orchard intended for teaching were designed to accommodate the entire student population. Program activities include joint use with City of Anaheim facilities located adjacent to the site, which meets CHPS and DSA criteria for water conservation and drought-tolerant plant materials. Roosevelt Elementary School was a top priority for redesign after the passage of a bond program in 2016. Rendering By: LCI
Puente Avenue Grade Separation; City of Industry, CA
The Puente Avenue Grade Separation project included the separation of roadway and railroad tracks on Puente Avenue at Valley Boulevard in the City of Industry. A roadway underpass on Puente Avenue was constructed with railroad bridges and a loop connector road west of Puente Avenue and south of Valley Boulevard. LCI's project scope included development of bridge aesthetics during Phase 1 for consideration as project enhancements.
