The association is supporting New Hampshire's HB1408 as it is a comprehensive bill that amends various laws related to professional licensure and certification in the state. The bill would merge boards including the board of architects with the board of landscape architects. HB 1408 would also amend the requirements for licensure like adding the requirement for businesses that would require landscape architects to obtain a seal authorized by the board. The legislation is in the House was referred for a study and is set to Executive Session on October 17 of this year.

Arizona HB 2253, died in committee, but would have set the board of landscape architecture to sunset. ASLA highly opposed this legislation.

New Hampshire HB 1676 would establish a sunset commission to evaluate various boards and commissions. The bill also repeals occupational boards and commissions every year through 2031. This legislation will be read in the House on October 17. The ASLA opposes this bill.

Illinois HB 2247 meanwhile would amend the Landscape Architecture Registration Act and would allow the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to adopt rules on continuing education. While the ASLA supports the act, it would also provide those guidelines for the counting education requirements.

The protection of landscape architecture through impending legislation is an important value that must be maintained.
