The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced the first round of Renew America's Schools grants, providing approximately $178 million to 24 Local Education Agencies (LEAs) across 22 states. The grants support energy improvements in K-12 schools, aiming to lower energy costs, reduce emissions, and create healthier learning environments. The investment, part of President Biden's Investing in America Agenda, benefits about 74,000 students and 5,000 teachers in 97 school buildings. The demand was substantial, with over 1,000 concept papers from 48 states totaling nearly $5.5 billion. The DOE more than doubled funding due to high demand. Projects include upgrading HVAC systems, lighting, building development, and adopting innovative technologies like solar panels. https://tinyurl.com/Energy-Econ-2023
