This design-build project added an interstate interchange, five miles of new arterial road with landscaping, and several new bridge crossings. HDR landscape architects designed aesthetic treatments for the bridges, bridge parapets and sound walls. Panels on the bridge picture the area's wildlife. The interchange is landscaped with rock arrangements and arid-climate plantings. The new pedestrian bridge over the Jordan River now connects two trails. The work also included roadway drainage and cross drainage enhancements close to the river.

Bureau of Reclamation Area Office Landscaping, Provo, Utah

The Bureau of Reclamation's Provo Area office wanted to demonstrate water conservation to the public by replacing landscaping with drought tolerant, native plantings. HDR's landscape architects designed the new landscaping to reduce water consumption, use the existing irrigation system, use native and low maintenance plants, and delineate seven separate planting zones. The new landscaping shows the public that this type of landscaping can be aesthetically pleasing, sustainable and low maintenance.
