Course Description Attendees will become familiar with; the parts of a palm tree, the most common palms in southern California, the various roles of palms in the landscape, the basics of planting/transplanting palms, and proper grooming/pruning concepts for palm trees. Biography Ron has been in the tree care industry for over 29 years and is a leader in the San Diego area arboriculture industry. He became a Certified Arborist in 1991, and in 2007 became the first Board-Certified Master Arborist in San Diego. He is a Registered Consulting Arborist, Tree Risk Assessment Qualified, and helps a wide range of clients as a consultant and expert witness. He has testified in court on a number of tree cases and manages tree crews on a daily basis. He is on the Board of Directors of the Professional Tree Care Assn. of San Diego, a local group dedicated to promoting proper tree care practices within the industry. Ron has spoken to Master Gardeners, horticulture clubs, municipal agencies, nursery professionals, landscape contractors, and other tree-related organizations (including his daughters' 5th grade class) about various aspects of arboriculture. Because of Ron's background and experience with residential, commercial, and historical trees and sites, he offers a professional point of view while understanding the practical needs of the field arborist.
