Course Description: This course will review the laws and regulations regarding labels and MSDS?EUR??,,????'???s, as they pertain to pesticide use. A description of the worker health and safety information will be covered along with information to help lower hazards and prevent illness/injury. Biography: Parissa has been with the Department of Pesticide Regulation, Worker Health and Safety Branch (DPR WHS) since 2010. She is responsible for evaluating and monitoring pesticide exposure and its mitigation. She also provides industrial hygiene based training to Departmental, County Agriculture Commissioner (CAC) staff and the regulated community on study results, mitigation measures, the use of personal protective equipment and engineering controls. Prior to DPR, she was a Senior Agricultural and Standards Inspector with the Sacramento County Agricultural Commissioner's Office. As an inspector, her primary responsibility was urban pesticide use enforcement. Parissa is a 2003 graduate of UC Davis, B.S. in Agricultural Systems and Environment. For several years after graduating, she worked for a plant biotechnology company where she obtained a Qualified Applicators License (QAL) and maintained plants in greenhouses and growth chambers. She still maintains her state Agricultural Biologist licenses from the California Department of Food and Agriculture as well as her DPR QAL.
