Wireless irrigation control has been around for years. Remotes began with simple on-and -off controls which made for a great convenience when out in the field making repairs or adjusting spray patterns. ?EUR??,,????'?????<

A significant amount of time could be saved by cutting out the unnecessary travel from the controller to your desired location especially if you have central systems such as a golf course or commercial site with several controllers. Eliminating two-person crews for routine maintenance calls and system checkouts greatly improves productivity and workflow, particularly when controllers are located over 1,000 feet away from your repair/adjustment point.

Light Energized Irrigation Technology (LEIT) is powered by ambient light. The local light allows the device to be more discreet and compact than solar powered devices. Here you see the dome mount installation irrigation controller, which is completely remotely operated and wireless.

Remotes have become much easier to use. Control interfaces have simplified, making what used to take three steps now only takes one. Extensive training is no longer needed on how to operate your system. A simple reference manual is typically all that is needed.

Another advantage of wireless control is having the timer located within a building or it is otherwise inaccessible.

PC controllers, a new edition to wireless control, are rapidly becoming more popular. Often used with more expansive irrigation control such as a central system, PC control systems offer great convenience by providing full control capabilities all from your computer. Many PC control systems can adjust schedules and receive status reports all via the internet, making it possible to operate your irrigation system from the other side of the world.

Adding remote operation to your existing, hard-wired controller is another way to become wireless. Remote Control Technology in Redmond, Wash., for example, offers a multiple line of conversion kits for most brands of timers. These kits are easily installed with some models offering remote control capabilities from over two miles away.
