July 16, 2018 marked the 22nd annual Renewal & Remembrance landscaping event. The collaborative effort, organized by the NALP, is the one of the largest landscaping industry volunteer projects in the country.Every year, the event honors America's fallen soldiers and their families by utilizing landscaping expertise to beautify and refurbish the grounds of Arlington National Cemetery.Returning to the project this year, Toro, along with its distributor partner, Turf Equipment and Supply Company, donated both equipment and volunteer hours to the cause. Eight Toro stand-on aerators were on hand for the project."We believe our support for this event is just one small way we can help memorialize those who made the ultimate sacrifice -- and hopefully bring some solace and comfort to the families and friends who are visiting their loved ones at Arlington National Cemetery," explains Chris Vogtman, marketing manager at Toro. "On behalf of everyone at Toro, we're humbled by the opportunity to honor the service men and women who have served our country."This year, after listening to opening remarks from NALP president Jeff Buhler, event chairman John Eggleston and dedication speaker Tom Shotzbarger, over 400 volunteers tackled irrigation and hardscape projects while also attending to maintenance work on the lawn and trees in the cemetery. The volunteers worked through the heat, with temperatures in D.C. reaching into the high 90s around noon. Despite the weather, every one of the projects that was scheduled for the event was completed by the end of the day. All of the materials used for the project were provided on a pro bono basis."It's an honor to be a part of this process each year," states Mike Reynolds, territory manager for Turf Equipment and Supply Company. "Our team is proud to volunteer its services on this special day to honor the men and women who have given so much for our country. Just being at Arlington Cemetery is a very awe-inspiring experience."Information about next year's Renewal & Remembrance event can be found at www.landscapeprofessionals.org
