This webinar will cover which micronutrients plants need and how they use them. Tree Micros and How They Make a Macro Difference in Tree Health (5min) First, a review of what makes a tree healthy and less susceptible to pests & diseases. Water requirements, nutrient needs, sun/light, air quality With a review of water management tools designed for trees (5min) Then start with a brief introduction to what Integrated Pest Management entails. As defined by DPR (10min) Review the different technologies used to apply micronutrients and chemicals. Canopy Spray, Bark Spray, Soil Injection, Soil Drench, Trunk Injection, Removal Discuss pros and cons of each. (30min) Review and work through how different micronutrients effect a plant and how they play a key role in defense mechanisms again: Scale, Aphids, Mites, Whitefly, Thrips, Bark Beetles, Anthracnose, Bot Canker, Caterpillars (10min) There will be an introduction to plant growth regulators and how they work and expected results for: Growth reduction, drought resistance, root development, disease resistance and micronutrient distribution.

About the Speakers:

Dawn Fluharty

Dawn Fluharty currently serves as a Regional Technical Manager for Arborjet in Woburn, MA, an ISA national member. In her current role, Dawn provides training and support to arborists, foresters, municipalities and industry leaders, who are evaluating treatment options for tree pests & diseases across the northwestern United States. Dawn has enjoyed 16 years in the green industry including: sales and sales management, horticultural education and training and operations management. She has her PCA (Pest Control Advisor) license and is a member of CAPCA (California Association of Pest Control Advisors) and the Western Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture. She also holds her QAL and continuously supports PAPA (Pesticide Applicators Professional Association) as a board member. She is a member of the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture, OAN (Oregon Association of Nurseries) and is a member of the Arbor Day Foundation. She has a degree in Environmental Horticultural Sciences with a minor in Soil Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
