The program was initially accredited in 1998 by LAAB which is a non-governmental self-regulation system that evaluates programs based on the programs' objectives and their relation minimum standards.
"It's a program that's unique to UConn in that it offers this professionally accredited program," Jill Desimini, director and associate professor of landscape architecture, said in an article with UConn Today. "It means that as an undergraduate, you earn a professional degree, and you can go on to enter the profession without additional study."
LAAB is made up of landscape architects and academics. The board shares annual reports to better monitor significant changes in each program.
