The TREE Fund launched a Tree and Soil Research Grant - funded by a permanently restricted endowment fund supporting research within landscape architecture with an emphasis on trees and soil - focused on the design and specification of trees and soils in urban spaces, propagation and nursery practices that impact long-term growth, species diversity, tree root and canopy improvement, soil and drainage design, tree planting practices, planting soil management and maintenance.

 

The grant cycle opened on August 1, but the last day to request a letter of intent is September 15, and the application is due on October 1. The grant recipient announcement will be held in late December.

According to treefund.org, staff will screen applications for eligibility, submission guidelines followed, alignment with the TREE Fund mission, and that minimum standards are met. At that point, if requirements are met then proposals will then move to the TREE Fund's Research and Education Committee for a more thorough evaluation. From there, recommendations will be notified in writing of Trustee approval.
