IECA reports the annual conference and expo, this year in Atlanta, had 1500 attendees from 27 countries. Jim Cantore (below), a meteorologist from The Weather Channel, kicked off conference. Craig Zeller, PE, from the EPA was the closing keynote speaker. ![]() ![]() ![]() LIGHTFAIR 2017's registration of 27,939 in Philadelphia May 7-11 topped last year's event by 7.4 percent. Registered attendees represented 81 countries. The UC Davis Student ASLA Chapter had a big contingency at the "Alumni Tailgate" gathering during the ASLA Expo in Los Angeles. UC Davis won 3rd place in the "Tailgate Booth Design Competition.' Other participating schools were: Arizona State; Auburn; Cal Poly; Cal State Polytechnic; Clemson; Cornell; Illinois Institute of Technology; Iowa State; Kansas State; Michigan State; Northeastern; Oklahoma State; Penn. The Landscape Expo in Long Beach, Calif. (Oct. 4-5), continues to grow and prosper. The roots of the show go back to 1959 and the Southern Calif. Turfgrass Council (SCTC), making it one of the oldest landscape shows in the country. The SCTC venue was the L.A. County Fairgrounds in Pomona (renamed the Fairplex in 1984). The show went by various names, but was bought by Landscape Communications in 2006 (publisher of LASN and Landscape Contractor/Design Build Maintain (LC/DBM).
