On Monday, June 24, the California Landscape Architecture Student Scholarship Fund held its 37th annual Golf Tournament to raise funds to help Landscape Architecture students pay for their schooling.CLASS Fund, as it is known, is dedicated to providing scholarships that recognize, "promising students who are continuing their educational pursuits," reward "outstanding accomplishments with financial assistance" and identify "promise and commitment for and to the profession."For the second straight year, the golf tournament was held at the Coto de Caza Golf and Racquet Club in Coto de Caza in Southern California.
The scholarships are made available to undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in accredited California programs of landscape architecture, ornamental horticulture, and irrigation science, and they must be continuing their studies within their respective fields.Victoria Phillipy, the executive director and scholarship co-chair for the foundation, was very pleased with the day's and evening's events, telling Landscape Architect Weekly, "We had 152 golfers and it was a beautiful day at Cota de Caza. We got numerous emails (the following morning) and everybody had a great time. It's such a busy time for everybody but people tell us that they have so much fun that they are just going to take the day off. Everybody has a great time and they know it is for a good cause."She added that it will take a day or two to tally all the numbers to find out how much was raised in total.
