The Perrot retractable sprinklers for sports fields, here in use at the National Stadium in Bern, Switzerland, are known for their long-distance casting range and fast rotation.

As a major expansion of their irrigation business, The Toro Company is set to acquire Regnerbau Calw GmbH, the German manufacturer of Perrot irrigation products, which have been installed at venues in the last four Summer Olympics, and at New York state's prestigious Saratoga Race Course.

Besides retractable sprinklers for sports fields, which are touted for their long-distance casting range and fast rotation, Perrot produces impact sprinklers and coupling systems for agricultural fields, and rain guns for industrial applications.

"This acquisition is consistent with our strategy to grow in the professional, water and global markets, and provides an expanded offering of professional irrigation solutions to better serve our customers," remarks Rick Olson, Toro's president and chief executive officer.

General manager of Regnerbau Calw GmbH, Alexander Fleig adds, "We believe that the acquisition by Toro will help expand our global footprint and take our business to the next level."

Regnerbau Calw GmbH is a privately held company headquartered in Althengstett, Germany, and founded in 1925. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals, and currently is expected to close during Toro's fiscal 2017 first quarter. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
