What started in 1981 as Naughton Stockwell Engineers is now a thriving full-service company with expertise in civil engineering, landscape architecture, land surveying, and EPC services. Soon after getting established, we dropped "Naughton" out of our name and we're now known as Stockwell Engineers, Inc. And if we're being honest, we prefer to go by just Stockwell.
We're passionate about providing modern yet practical solutions to our clients. These clients range from municipalities and state agencies to private businesses and developments. Our scope of abilities is wide and continues to grow with each project we take on. What began as a grassroots campaign by Yankton residents in 2017 to replace their existing run-down pool is now the reality of a modern aquatics facility recently opened in Spring of 2021. The impressive new aquatics facility not only provides service and entertainment for Yankton's community members but acts as a destination for visitors of the tri-state area and beyond.

South Dakota State Veterans Cemetery, Sioux Falls,
San Diego

The South Dakota State Veterans Cemetery project was awarded by the Office of the State Engineer, on behalf of the South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs, to Stockwell Engineers in the summer of 2018. The project included the master planning, design development, bidding, and construction administration of a new 60-acre cemetery just north of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Main Street Vermillion Streetscape, Vermillion,

The City of Vermillion chose Stockwell to redesign their downtown Main Street streetscape as part of an initiative to clean up and attract more visitors to the downtown neighborhood. The project consisted of three blocks of city streetscape, specifically the area between curb and gutter and business storefronts. Improvements included concrete pavers, cast stone benches, wayfinding columns, and large entrance monument piers, as well as benches, bike racks, and litter receptacles. All designs were thoroughly vetted through a series of community preference meetings and public meetings facilitated by Stockwell Engineers.

Hayward Park Improvements,
Sioux Falls, SD

Stockwell Engineers was hired by the City of Sioux Falls to create a destination park at a neighborhood that had previously been underserved with outdoor public amenities. The park shares a property line and parking lot with a public school and sees much traffic from neighborhood families. The park contains a splash park, a restroom facility, a fenced dog park with both large and small dog areas, a walking trail, a large open grass field, and a playground obstacle course with artificial turf surfacing.

City Center & Van Eps Park, Sioux Falls, SD

Stockwell assisted the city in re-envisioning the park and existing parking lot at the new City Center Building into a seamless integration of public outdoor spaces. Design services included site grading, utilities, pavement, landscape design and irrigation. The new public spaces provide a variety of outdoor seating options, a large multi-purpose open lawn, and rock gardens.
