The Sports Turf Mangers Association recently announced the sixth annual 'Mowing Patterns Contest' winner (https://landscapearchitect.com/articles/stmas-mowing-patterns-contest/30445), after voters selected their favorite patterns via Facebook. Kyle Calhoon, sports turf manager for the Hartford Yard Goats in Hartford, Conn., received the honor for his unique design at Dunkin' Donuts Park, field of the Colorado Rockies's Double-A baseball team. Calhoon received a certificate in Turfgrass Management from Penn State University. In 2016, he was the grounds manager for the San Francisco 49ers. With much experience in Major League Baseball and the National Football League, he continued on and received the Diamond Pro Eastern League Sports Field Manager of the Year award in 2017 and 2018.Kim Heck, CAE, CEO of STMA commends Calhoon for his field art, saying, "Finding the perfect balance of safety and visual appeal can be challenging, yet he has managed to accomplish this impressive feat."
