SITES Seeks Input from Landscape Online Readers

The Sustainable SITES Initiative is a joint effort between the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at the University of Texas at Austin, and the United States Botanic Garden.

To help inform future programs and initiatives, SITES, a program dedicated to transforming land development practices toward regenerative design, has asked that our readers take a short survey.

The survey is open for responses through Sept. 5 and will provide information to the organization about its supporters' interests and backgrounds, and give those who take the survey an option to stay posted on the organization's progress.

In other news, after years of research and development, the SITES v2 Rating System and Reference Guide will be released this fall, at which time any landscape project will be able to register and pursue SITES certification. Everyone who contributes their input through the survey will be placed in a drawing to win the guide.

The Sustainable SITES Initiative provides performance guidelines and rates sustainable landscapes of all types. Its central message is "any landscape holds the potential to both improve and regenerate the natural benefits and services provided by ecosystems in their undeveloped state. These benefits . . . are essential to the health and wellbeing of all life on the planet."
