The State of Maryland revised CPC regulations for Landscape Architects in the state. PDHs now need 8 credits of alternative activities.
New, revised Continuing Professional Competency (CPC) regulations for registered Landscape Architects in Maryland went into effect on August 7th and bring with it a few notable changes that will come with an eight month transition period for licenses renewing after the effective date.
While the required 24 PDHs per two-year renewal cycle is staying the same, a new Health, Safety, Welfare (HSW) requirement was added. HSW activities must be at least eight of the 24 required credits per renewal cycle.
The updates went on to state that landscape architects must clarify that educational courses, with or without the LA CES approval, may be accepted by the board so long as they meet the "Qualifying Continuing Education Standard Activities" section of the regulation.
Registered Landscape Architects must now receive "Continuing Education Standard Activities" (the current format) as well as other "Continuing Education Alternative Activities" such as authorship of published work, completion of for-credit course at a university or college, as well as other professional development work, presentations, and other activities that may be approved by the Board. Alternative Activities may comprise up to 8 of the 24 required credits per renewal cycle.
