Located on a former industrial site, the 5-acre Rev. Charles Williams Park underwent a major transformation thanks to support and funding from Indy Parks and a Land Water and Conservation Fund grant. Initially acquired in 2011, this greenspace had been empty and unprogrammed until now. An initial master plan effort, led by Indy Parks, was undertaken in 2015 and revised in 2018 as part of the grant application process. The park is named after an influential African American leader in the community, Rev. Charles Williams. This park has been an eagerly anticipated amenity for the neighborhood.

Following receipt of the grant in 2019, Browning Day was contracted to incorporate elements of the master plan into a full set of construction documents. The new design provides a modern playground for all ages, picnic shelter, amphitheater with open lawn seating, horseshoe courts, loop walking trail and a dedicated trail connection to the nearby Monon Trail system. Additionally, there will be a new parking lot with LED lighting, and an entry plaza seating area which includes informational panels to provide visitors with information about Rev. Charles Williams' legacy and influence throughout Indianapolis and abroad.
