Recently, Mullin Landscape Associates came together to participate in a community outreach project for a Catholic Charities of New Orleans' Head Start program. For this project, the company's employees volunteered their time to enhance the playground at St. Paul the Apostle, which is located along the Chef Menteur Highway in east New Orleans. They installed an educational and child-friendly butterfly garden that consisted of four beds created out of concrete masonry units to create a beautiful new outdoor learning environment. The plants will provide a safe haven for butterflies, along with excitement and a unique learning experience to the children of St. Paul the Apostle. Four cubic yards of soil were used and donated for the butterfly garden. The Mullin Landscape team members also transformed an empty concrete space into a bike trail with games for the children. The project was created to provide the school with a space to aid the children's well-being. For the bike, trail Mullin Landscape used Tuffcrete concrete stain on the previously laid pavement and painted games for the children to enjoy while engaging in physical activity. The stain will provide longevity to the color vibrancy for the children for many years to come. The project received materials from Charvet's Garden Center, Helm Paint & Decorating, Home Depot Inc. and Masonry Products, whose generous donations provided everything needed including, concrete masonry units, plants and the concrete stain. Mullin Landscape was happy to give back to the community and grateful for the benefits of the team building aspect of this endeavor. The company is a comprehensive landscape design and build firm offering a wide range of landscape services, from landscape architecture and site planning to landscape construction and maintenance. With a staff of over 75, they are proud to offer their services to residential and commercial clients, as well as to other design professionals, developers and institutions.
