Mark Deister of Deister Machine Co. Inc., Fort Wayne, Ind., for exceptional and exemplary dedication to the aggregates industry, his family and his community. Deister is celebrating his fortieth year of full-time service to the aggregates industry at Deister, a manufacturing business founded by his grandfather in 1912. He has served as chief engineer, head of service, manufacturing manager, secretary, treasurer, vice president of manufacturing and now as company president. He also has played a critical role in the success of the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association?EUR??,,????'???s Plant Operators Conference, serving for more than 15 years on the NAA Research, Operations and Engineering Committee and participating each year in the Plant Operators Conference Pre-tour trip that the Operations Division uses to choose tour sites for future meetings. The Wendt Memorial Commitment Award was created in 1997 in memory of Barry K. The 2003 University Professors Masonry Workshop will be held at Arizona State University on March 16-18. This workshop is designed to assist architectural and engineering educators who teach masonry courses or hope to incorporate masonry courses or portions of courses into their curriculum. Separate tracks for architectural issues and engineering issues will be featured. This year?EUR??,,????'???s seminar is also designed to offer new materials to professors who have attended an earlier session, according to Brian Trimble of the International Masonry Institute. Along with presenters from sponsoring organizations, the workshop offers roundtable discussions by participants to allow the exchange of teaching methods, curriculum sources and ways to teach masonry.
