The New York State Turfgrass Association announced golf course superintendent Rick Slattery as the recipient of the "Friend of the Green Industry" award. Slattery has been the superintendent at Locust Hill Country Club for 23 years, located in Rochester, NY. Fellow golf course superintendent Steve Whipple presented the award at the 2017 Turf and Grounds Exposition. Locust Hill Country Club has hosted 15 Ladies Professional Golf Association tour events and four championships. Slattery has helped Locust Hill reduce water consumption by 75 percent. He has been recognized by the golf industry for his work and recently received a Certificate of Recognition for Environmental Stewardship from Monroe County.
