The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) was rewarded with a $200,000 grant from the Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign. Share Our Strength is an organization dedicated to ending hunger and poverty in the United States and around the world. Their No Kid Hungry campaign was created in 2010 and is focused on eliminating hungry in children. Allison Colman, NRPA director of health, explained the necessity for industry organizations to support the hungry within their communities in saying, "The essential role of parks and recreation in addressing food security has been amplified during the COVID-19 pandemic, with agencies across the country rapidly scaling up meal and food distribution programs and collaborating with schools, food banks and other community partners to fill gaps and addressing rising rates of food insecurity." With this generous donation, NRPA will be distributing those funds to 18 different local park and recreation agencies across the country with the intention of providing relief to support the sustained operations of meal programs served through park and recreation sites that have been heavily affected by the pandemic. The agencies that will be receiving funds are the following: Bella Ease, Quincy, Illinois
