The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) recently released a statement applauding the U.S. House of Representatives for the passage of the Build Back Better Act.

 

The legislation sets aside funds towards local parks and budgets for funding towards urban parks and creates a civilian conservation corps, which NRPA prioritizes as well.

"House passage of the Build Back Better Act represents great progress toward the realization of a civilian conservation corps and providing more equitable funding for urban parks," NRPA Vice President of Public Policy and Advocacy, Elvis Cordova enthused, "These forward-thinking programs will provide valuable economic opportunities and increase access to quality public green spaces for many communities throughout our country. They will also provide more sustainable solutions to help communities become more resilient and better address the challenges presented by climate change. We encourage the Senate to take action on this legislation."
