The new Mary Cali Dalton Recreation Center in New York is expected to be completed in 2025.
Staten Island is the recipient if New York City's newest recreation center as announced by the city's Parks Department. The $92 million Mary Cali Dalton Recreation Center was designed by New York's Department of Design and Construction (DDC) as part of a design-build project. The facility will open in 2025.
"We're so excited that this innovative design is complete and brings us one step closer to a brand-new recreation center for Staten Islanders," said NYC Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue. "Mary Cali Dalton represents the best of Parks, and we hope that this recreation center will continue her legacy of bringing folks together for active recreation and fun."
It is said this this will be the first design-build project for a New York City park in the last seven years. Furthermore, New York's DDC explained that through their department the project will be constructed over two years faster than if they had employed their previous "lowest bidder design-bid-build contract method."
