New Mexico Erosion Control Permit Requirement

In the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico, homeowners, developers, contractors, business owners, engineers and architects now have to obtain an erosion sediment control permit and have it authorized by a professional engineer.

"This new regulation also adds another wrinkle, which is that there is a liability insurance requirement involved as well," Kelley Fetter, CEO of StormCo New Mexico, said. "Anyone developing property of an acre or more should work with a professional engineer that specializes in erosion sediment control and Environmental Protection Agency compliance issues to be sure they comply with all the regulations."
