The National Recreation and Park Association has partnered with the Water Environment Federation (WEF) to offer new green infrastructure training through the National Green Infrastructure Certification Program (NGICP). According the NRPA's website, the NGICP curriculum seeks to provide credentialed field workers with foundational knowledge so that they can properly "build, inspect and maintain green infrastructure stormwater practices across the United States." The NRPA will host a two and a half day NGICP training event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in May 2019. The opportunity will include presentations, online learning, practice tests and field experience. The training will further focus on building green stormwater infrastructure projects within parks, in order to benefit communities. The NRPA will grant scholarships to 25 applicants, who will then participate in the training and the certification exam. Selected recipients will receive breakfast, lunch and lodging by the NRPA, as well as a $350 stipend for airfare. The application window is now open and will close on December 17. Applicants will be notified, whether they were selected or not for the scholarship by January 16. To learn more about the qualifications and important dates, visit https://tinyurl.com/ybcfo3su.
