Nevada ASLA Chapter

Chapter President Jack Zunino served on the Nevada State Board of Landscape Architects (1989-1998), including the board that spearheaded the 1995 legislative effort to update Nevada's landscape architecture law.

Chapter events for the year included sponsored lunches, a golf tournament, PARK(ing) Day, the UNLV Social, and Shadow Mentor Day. The annual Workshop/Retreat of the executive committee occurred on Oct. 6 to resolve chapter issues (budget, promotions, membership, advocacy) and to assign specific roles of each elected position on the committee and potential delegated chairpersons for committees.

The NVASLA northern section in Reno and the NVASLA in Las Vegas hosted ASLA President Vaughn Rinner at their April 12 meeting.

In April, NVASLA President Jack Zunino, along with president-elect Laura Miller and trustee Lucy Joyce, met with the Nevada political representatives in D.C. to discuss the issues that face our profession. Mr. Zunino, along with 70 or so ASLA members, were among some 200,000 people on the National Mall marching to the White House to protest the environmental policies of President Trump.
