The State of Nebraska introduced House Bill 696 which would define, change, and eliminate provisions relating to the State Board of Landscape Architects.

 
This Legislative Bill would update the professional Landscape Architects Act by adopting the Uniform Licensure Standard. This standard developed by the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB) is a guidance established by the boards' membership for "education, experience, and examination to be eligible for licensure as a Landscape Architect."

Uniform Standard specifies consistent licensure across the U.S. and Canada through four sections including qualifications such as education, experience, examination, and reciprocity, alternative education, experience, and amendments.

LASN works to promote health, safety, and welfare as we mark our fortieth year of publication. With that, licensure is the most important element, and we will continue to monitor this bill and others across the country.

HB 696 was introduced on Jan. 22 then referred to the Government, Military and Veterans Affairs Committee on Jan. 24. LASN will continue to monitor the bill. This bill is set for a hearing by legislature on March 6.
