The Interlocking Concrete Paving Institute (ICPI) and the National Concrete Masonry Association (NCMA) have recently announced that they are working to unify the two organizations into one. The unification is centered around the similarities between the two associations. The announcement specifically cited the history ICPI and NCMA have working together, the high volume of shared memberships, and similar objectives and approaches that will allow them to combine their efforts to achieve common goals.

 

This process began with the creation of a committee composed of members from both organizations called the Unification Exploration Committee. The announcement read, "Without obligating either ICPI or NCMA, the exploration committee recently brought their recommendation for unification to the Boards of ICPI and NCMA. Finding overwhelming support, both Boards have approved resolutions aimed at creating a single membership organization. The overall goal is to build a new association by combining the unique and complementary strengths of NCMA and ICPI."

Furthermore, a newly formed association is aimed towards helping vital manufactured concrete market segments including hardscapes to achieve their goals in North America. From here, members of both NCMA and ICPI must vote to approve the unification later this year.
