The National League of Cities (NLC) recently selected 12 U.S. cities to participate in the second round of the Advancing Economic Mobility Rapid Grant program - designed to empower local governments to support initiatives that improve the economic mobility of low-income residents.
The municipalities participating in the 2024 Advancing Economic Mobility Rapid Grant program are: Aurora, IL; Burlington, VT; Chester, AR; Durango, CO; El Paso, TX; Frederick, MD; Grand Island, NE; Gustavus, AK; Lansing, MI; Linden, AL; South San Francisco, CA; and St. Petersburg, FL.
Each city will receive grants of up to $20,000 to launch or expand programs in one of three areas including creating quality employment opportunities, providing equitable support for small businesses, and connecting residents with services and public benefits.
In addition, cities will also have the opportunity to engage with leaders at peer cities through the Economic Mobility Peer Network for further resources.
