According to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the prices of building materials have decreased by 0.3% in November, after declining by 0.6% from September and October. This information is reported from the NAHB Producer Price Index (PPI) that has now decreased five out of six months this year.

 

Some building materials have decreased in price more than others, softwood lumber being a prime candidate. The prices for softwood lumber have decreased by over 40% since March of 2022.

Meanwhile, ready-mix concrete has only been increasing, reaching a point that is barely lower than the record high set during the housing boom. The PPI for ready-mix concrete increased 10.7% this year so far.
