Michigan Water Use Legislation Passes

A package of water use bills has passed out of the Michigan Senate, and the bills are now being considered in the state House. Senate Bills 850, 851, 852, 854 and 857 have broad industry support from both landscape and agricultural interests including the Farm Bureau, Michigan Turfgrass Foundation and the Michigan Nursery and Landscape Association. The measures would extend the duties of Groundwater Advisory Council to continue groundwater inventory mapping and withdrawal assessment tools. The assessment tools would be used to determine the impact of high-volume withdrawals.
