Risky Business: Are my trees safe?
That is literally a million-dollar question.

Every tree owner and manager must answer this question and recognize how to determine a reasonable solution. This presentation will examine some of the strategies applied in the decision-making process for mitigation of risk conditions as well as survey some of the nuances involved in consulting arboriculture from the risk management perspective.

Learning Objectives:
1. Define the basic terms used in tree risk assessment.
2. Describe the steps involved in performing a tree risk assessment.
3. Recognize common conditions and defects found in the landscape that prevent risk.

Lindsey Purcell
Lindsey Purcell, principal of Lp Consulting Group, has been involved in the community landscape and urban forestry for over 40 years. He is an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, which has served communities around the U.S. as a landscape and tree professional at the state and municipal government level as well as private enterprise. Recently, retired from 21 years of teaching on a collegiate level at Purdue University and Vincennes University, has recently published his new book, Arboricultural Practices; a science-based approach to tree care. In his role as a presenter, author and arborist, Lindsey continues to provide many educational opportunities and products for professional arborists and urban foresters on an international level. Additionally, Lindsey serves as Executive Director of the Indiana chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture. He is an American Society of Consulting Arborists Registered Consulting Arborist and holds the ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification as a certified instructor by the International Society of Arboriculture.
