The Point
El Segundo, Calif.
This boutique, retail and restaurant destination situated on an 11-acre site in El Segundo, California, was guided by the vision of our client, Federal Realty Investment Trust, and opened in July 2015. Lifescapes International created a lifestyle shopping center that had a central park-like destination within a neighborhood. This "people place" was designed to encourage visitor interaction (foosball, outdoor living room environments and much more). This is a reflection of the nearby residents' desire to be provided with an enjoyable place for them to shop, eat, play and simply to congregate with one another. Two custom-designed water features provide visual interest. The first is a large round fountain situated near outdoor seating, adjacent to the central park (which is programmed with several events such as yoga, art classes in the park, etc.). It serves as sound buffer for the adjacent traffic. It's also the center's focal point, and a cooling element in the hot season. It has varied level water spouts and a bowl in the center with a fire element in it. Seating is anchored nearby to be able to enjoy the view, and it's a 360 degree experience you can see from all around.
Fontainebleau Miami Beach
Miami Beach, Florida

Fontainbleau Miami Beach is an extraordinarily unique property that represents a kind of theatrical social glamour seldom found today. It was imperative to us that the redesign embraces the spirit of Morris Lapidus, lacing together stunning historical details with fresh and innovative materials. Lifescapes designed the environment to preserve the grandeur while infusing it with a new energy and sense of chic. The resort's oceanfront poolscape features a free-form main pool shaped as a modern, abstract replica of Lapidus' signature bow-tie design. A secluded oasis pool, multiple smaller dipping pools, 30 luxury cabanas and an interactive children's waterscape ate among the poolscape's other distinguishing features. Intermingled in the new poolscape are"walls of water." Guests can also relax by an exclusive European-style pool with sexy enclave surrounded by cabanas and sun loungers. This renowned oceanfront focal point remains as glamorous as when James Bond and Goldfinger sat by the pool for a heated game of gin rummy.
Wynn Las Vegas
Las Vegas, Nev.
Wynn Las Vegas sits on more than 50 acres, with 20 acres devoted to gardens, yet feels like a very personal and intimate boutique-style property. One of the biggest challenges was designing something to create a sense of intimacy as you enter, that removes you from the Strip and obstructs the view of the mall across the street. The solution was a pine tree- covered, 140-foot-high mountain in the front, along the Las Vegas Strip, complete with cascading waterfalls. Not only does it create a sense of privacy from the hustle and bustle on the Strip, it entices visitors and guests to come inside! It was challenging to find the number of mature trees needed to create the mountain. Trees were harvested from the golf course on the property; because of their size, they would have been impossible to find anywhere else. The mountain also provided an environment for restaurants on the backside to have water views and privacy.
Red Rock Casino Resort
Las Vegas, Nev.
The 70-acre property (14 acres are devoted to the landscape environment) is located within Summerlin- a thriving, upscale community in the Las Vegas metropolitan area. The desire to feature drought tolerant plant materials was of paramount importance to Summerlin residents and to Station Casinos. The main pool area is a flexible venue that can be converted from a pool environment with lounges and cabanas to an event area for concerts. The Baja ledge in the main pool is 10" deep, and allows guests with chaise lounges in the water to keep cool, enjoy cocktails and be partially immersed. A total of nine pools, spas, wading ponds and hot water spas surround the main pool. In addition, the pool deck has more than adequate room for chaise lounges. Groupings of eight different varieties of bamboo (black bamboo, timber bamboo, rainbow bamboo, plus others) are artfully planted alongside other sculptural plant materials such as Sago Palms, Ocotillo, Yucca Rose, multi-trunked Palo Verdes, Japanese Privets, Weeping Red -Trunked Acacias and Windmill Palms. The planting beds are combinations of shrubs and flowers (over 4,500 specific plants poolside), including Indian Hawthorn, Purple Daylilies, Silver Dragon Creeping Lily Turf just to name a few. Additional hardscape treatments include masses of red cobble, black cobble and earth tone cobble among carefully selected planting areas throughout the property. Color, texture and style complement the owner's vision for this contemporary and very cool modern environment.
